Smart Spelling, New Spelling Engine with In-context Spelling Suggestions

Grammarian PRO X now provides smart spelling suggestions that correspond to the context of the surrounding text. This new suggestion engine uses sentence contextual-dependency thematic clausal, phrasal, and word parts-of-speech tagging information to display the best-match top-ranking suggestion (even as you type!). The new spelling engine also offers suggestions by using the newest state-of-the-art metaphone, ngram, and editdistance spelling algorithms. Grammarian's new spelling engine is superior and unequalled by any existing spelling checkers. Only Grammarian has the computational linguistics artificial intelligence that can accomplish such a feat.

See Figure 1-1 for an as-you-type context dependent example. Notice the noun "serf" is initially suggested for the first error example, and the verb "see" is foremost for the same misspelled word for the second example.

All version 1.6 spelling dictionaries are either new or updated with the new artificial intelligence data.

Styled-text AutoType™ Replacements

Grammarian automatically types expansions with predefined fonts, font styles, text colors, and inserted time/dates. The AutoType text replacements can be any length and are typed instantly into the document. This feature is not available from any other product. See Figure 1-2.

AutoShow Interactive Grammar/Spelling Popup Menu

Grammarian's new menu provides an alternative to the conventional Auto-Show interactive window for choosing grammar and spelling corrections. The popup menu offers the quickest and most transparent way to select corrections. Grammarian offers a choice of a small popup menu or a large popup menu, and you can even customize how long you want the popup menu to remain viewable. See Figure 1-3. This feature requires Mac OS X 10.3 or greater.

From the Grammarian pencil menu, configure the Auto-Show Popup menu separately for each application. When the Popup menu setting is off, the default is the Interactive Auto-Show window. See Figure 1-4.

Grammarian now provides text cleanup options from the Grammarian menu.

1. Format Text Selection:

Format Paragraphs - Remove doubled carriage returns that normally break lines into paragraphs.
Remove Multiple Spaces - Remove doubled spaces.
Remove Email Quotes - Remove quoted markers from email.

2. Convert Text Selection:

To UPPERCASE - Convert text to all uppercase.
To lowercase - Convert text to all lowercase.

3.Insert Date/Time:

Inserts the date/time in several formats.

 


 

Grammarian now shows error view error description help tags.

Grammar and punctuation help tags explain any error in the Document Error View drawer. Now, you can just point the mouse to an error to understand what the error actually is (Figure 1-6).

Integrated Grammarian Spelling Service

Grammarian now integrates into the standard Mac OS X Spelling Panel. This is a built-in spelling alternative for most Cocoa applications. Grammarian's extensive spelling engine and spelling dictionaries thus provide error checking, suggestions, and the much-favored red error underlining. The Spelling panel is available from the Edit/Spelling... menu in most Cocoa applications. See Figure 1-7.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Grammarian Writing Rules Preferences - What's new?

Grammarian Preferences - What's new?

1. Auto-Show Popup Menu Preferences (Figure 1-10):

  • Close menu after typing words. Adjust this setting to close the menu after typing a preselected count of words.
  • Use small-sized popup menu. Set this on for a small menu with small text, or set this off for a large menu with larger easier-to-read text.
